Difficulty in speaking
May become unconscious.
Assist the casualty to sit down or into a comfortable position for them.
Assist the casualty in taking their own medication (reliever inhaler - blue) and get the casualty to follow their own personal action plan.
Reassure the casualty
Be prepared to carry out basic life support.
Contact the Emergency Services (999/112) if:
Their medication has no effect after 5 minutes.
If it’s their first attack.
Breathlessness makes talking difficult.
